Gift of the Holy Thorn
August and Easter Monday
Among the interesting traditional events is the commemoration of the gift of the Holy Thorn, August 22, a relic that gave Fortinbras Carlo Montone in 1473, now preserved in a reliquary of silver in 1635. This historical event has a rich set of historical and cultural moments, the edition of 2007, also has the sponsorship of UNESCO. In the week of festivities, the three districts of Montone (port of the village, port and port of Monte Verziere) recreate a medieval atmosphere and launch challenges, competing in archery, in order to win the Palio, the Castellana (figure recalls Margherita Malatesta of Rimini, the wife of Count Carlo Fortinbras, who ruled in his absence, the city of Montone).
